Potential with a capital P

Personal Journey

The first thing that pops into my mind when I hear the word potential is the song I used to sing as a kid: “I am a promise. I am a possibility. I am a promise, with a capital P. I am a great big bundle of potentiality.” Maybe it was the catchy tune, but that song has always stuck with me and influenced my relationship with Potential. I am a big advocate. I love it. Potential gives me hope when I’m not sure about an outcome. Will that new investment make money? I don’t know, but it has the Potential to do well. Will I hit a new PR in the next race I run? The training I did for three months at least gave me the Potential to beat my old time. Will the new hire become a good leader? Their attitude and skills give them the Potential to develop into a powerful leader.

The thing about Potential is that you don’t have to have everything worked out first. The smallest amount of something can have the Potential to be something big.

Jesus recognized this when he spoke of faith. He said, “If you have faith the size of a mustard seed (side note: a mustard seed is super tiny), you can move a mountain.”

His point is that the Potential of faith is very powerful.

My point is that Potential in any shape or size, is a powerful source of hope.
